News From ICA Members

Frank Puleo, owner of Catering By Framboise in Staten Island, New York, was one of eight foodservice operators named to the board of the National Restaurant Association at its annual meeting and trade show in Chicago this May. In this role, Puleo represents the International Caterers Association. This marks the first time a caterers association has been represented on the board.[private]

Scott Barnes has joined Feastivities Catering inPittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as Director of Marketing and Public Relations.

And in true ICA-success-story style, Jason Fildes has joined InspiredOccasions, Kansas City, Missouri, as a catering chef. Fildes met Lon Lane, owner of Inspired Occasions last year at ICA’s CaterArts held at the Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky. He was part of the chef team at the university’s catering division, Juleps, and was getting ready for the final night of CaterArts when he met Lane. The two stayed in touch and when Fildes graduated with a Culinary Arts and Professional Catering Degree (with an associate degree in Applied Sciences) Lane hired him. He began June 1, 2009 and spoke to the ICA after one month on the job. “This is exactly what I expected,” Fildes says. “Lon and I talked a lot over the past year and he told me about the company as did Chef Jones [Kimberly Jones, CPCE, CEC]. I never thought that I’d be where I am now at this same time last year.”
